GuideTrip is a marketplace for booking unique tours, activities and travel experiences from around the world. With us, you can reserve travel experiences in advance: to get better deals, avoid sold-out activities, and skip lines at popular attractions, and you don’t have to deal with cash payments at your destination.
At GuideTrip we provide you with all the pricing and availability information you need to place your booking whenever it’s convenient for you. We also have the best prices: because we work directly with local people, you never pay more than the local price. Otherwise, we’ll refund the difference!
Yes, you need to pre-register by using either your email account or via Facebook, in order to book a travel experience on GuideTrip. By pre-registering, you can also contact a Local Expert by using our messaging system. When you submit a booking, you will receive an email receipt with the basic details of your booking and a timeframe. Once your booking is confirmed - some tours are confirmed immediately, while others will be confirmed by the local expert within 48 hours - you’ll receive another email with your ticket voucher. Be sure to keep these emails if you need to refer to any information about your booking!
Information on GuideTrip is available only in English at the moment. As we write this, we are working on making GuideTrip more language friendly just for you. Most of our local experts, however speak at least one additional language other than English. Please feel free to reach out to them, and they will be more than happy to assist you as you get ready to embark on a memorable travel experience.
Prices on GuideTrip can be viewed in any recognized currency around the world. To change the currency in which you view prices on the site, please click the currency drop-down menu and select your desired currency from the list displayed. When you make a booking, your payment will be made in the currency you have selected at the time you make your booking. We advise paying in whatever currency your credit card or PayPal account uses.
We offer over 400 travel experiences in 60 destinations spread across 15 countries. If you do not see a travel experience in your chosen destination, then write to us at email@example.com and we will get the same arranged for you.
There are two ways of finding travel experiences on GuideTrip.
If you know what type of travel experience you’re looking for, you can simply enter that term into the search field at the top of the GuideTrip homepage. For example, if you know you want to visit the Taj Mahal in Agra, you could enter “Taj Mahal” in the search field.
Your search results will automatically be sorted by popularity, with our most-booked tours listed first. You can use the “Sort by” options at the top of your search results page to sort by price (highest first or lowest first), rating (highest first or lowest first), and duration (longest or shortest length).
You can also use the options on the left side of the page to narrow down your search results by the following categories: Guided Tours, Activities, Food & Wine, Culture, Ground Transportation & Transfers, and Shore Excursions. You can also sort by destination, price range, tour rating, the languages in which tours are offered, services (such as private tours, wheelchair accessible tours, etc), and tour duration.
If you’re not sure exactly what you want to do and you prefer to browse the available activities in a particular destination, you can visit the GuideTrip home page and enter your destination in the “Experience Search” field. Alternatively, you can select an experience by clicking on Find An Experience on the top of the homepage, or choose a local expert by clicking on the button on the top of the home page.
Too many to list here! Our tours span categories such as sightseeing tours, cultural and historical tours, sports, cruises, culinary and nightlife activities, museum tickets, sporting events, rentals, airport transfers, and shore excursions.
First, visit the page of the travel experience you would like to book. Select the date you wish to go on the travel experience by clicking the calendar icon under the "Availability" heading on this page. Dates in green are still available while dates in red are no longer available; click on the date you wish to book.
Second, click the "Book" button. Please note that some travel experiences have multiple options - for example, a travel experience that can be taken either as a fixed price or at a per person price or as a group tour or a private tour at different prices. Be sure to click the booking button for the option you wish to reserve. You will then be prompted to select your desired starting time (if applicable) and the number of participants in your group. On the following page, review your selected booking information, and click the green "Proceed to checkout" button to enter your payment details (if applicable). Once you submit your booking, the local expert of the travel experience will confirm your reservation within 48 hours, and you will receive a ticket voucher via email. Please print your voucher and bring it, along with a valid photo ID for the traveler named on the ticket, to the meeting point stipulated on your voucher when you attend. Please be aware that some activities will also require a valid ID for each participant, but this will be stated on the ticket.
Please note that your credit card/PayPal account will be charged upon booking. If the local expert does not accept your booking, the charged amount will be credited back to the account from which the charge was drawn. Alternatively, you could then book the same travel experience with another local expert, where the balance payment will be paid by you or refunded to you (as applicable).
We can accept payments only on PayPal at the moment. You can use either your PayPal account, or your VISA, MASTERCARD or AMEX card by logging onto PayPal.
Yes. By using our secure online payment system, your payment information is encrypted, you are secured against fraud. Please note that your credit card/PayPal account will be charged upon booking.
After booking you'll receive two emails from us. Here's what to expect - Receipt: Right after you book, we'll email you a receipt to confirm your booking submission and payment. Keep in mind that the receipt is not the same as the confirmation you get in step two.
Confirmation + Voucher: As soon as your booking is confirmed, you’ll receive another email with a link to your voucher. If your activity has instant booking, you will get your confirmation and voucher quite quickly. If your activity is on-demand, there will be a short wait time for the local expert to confirm your booking. It\’s a good idea to keep these emails for your records. Your voucher is especially important because it contains the details of the activity departure location and contact information for the local expert in case of an emergency.
If you need to find your voucher again, it’s easy: just log in to your Traveler Profile on GuideTrip.com and navigate to "Bookings." There, you'll see all of your past and upcoming bookings and vouchers.
If you need to make any changes to your booking - such as removing a participant, changing the tour date or time, or editing your contact information, please contact GuideTrip via phone or email.
If you are removing participants, or changing the date or time of your tour, we will need to contact the local expert to confirm that they can accommodate the change. If you simply need to change your contact information, we’ll be able to take care of that for you ourselves right away!
Please note that some local experts cannot accept cancellations or date/time changes for a booking that has already been confirmed. Any non-standard refund or cancellation policies from the tour operator are stated on the tour page.
You will need to bring a copy of your ticket voucher (all local experts accept printed copies; some accept a display of your voucher on your mobile device) and a valid photo ID for the traveler named on the ticket (some activities will also require a valid ID for each participant but this will be stated on the ticket).
Some activities require or recommend additional items to bring with you: for example, driving excursions generally require a valid driver’s license, while outdoor or sporting activities may require or recommend specific gear to ensure your comfort and safety (rain gear, water bottles, swimsuits, etc). Please check both your voucher and the activity details page where you booked for more information from the supplier about what’s required or recommended for your activity.
If you no longer have the email with your voucher, don’t worry! Simply contact us via email or phone, and we will email you a link to your voucher.
Of course! If you are purchasing a travel experience for someone else, you can enter that person’s information on the checkout page when you enter your reservation details.
Please note that the booking confirmation and ticket voucher will be sent to the email address provided on the billing details form. The email in the traveler form will be used by the local expert for important communication prior to the tour.
It all depends upon whether or not the guide can accommodate your request - especially if private transportation is involved. To avoid disappointment, you must contact the local expert before the tour date. If additional fees must be paid (at the local expert's discretion), you can either pay the local expert in cash or submit the payment to GuideTrip*.
* A nominal fee may be applied in addition to the amount charged to cover the costs of the payment processing.
Tipping your local expert is not necessary. Regardless of what is posted on the published experience, you should not feel obligated to tip our local expert-partners. All of the local experts are contractors; therefore, they are responsible for setting an appropriate price that adequately compensates not only themselves, but their partners as well (eg – drivers).

If you have an experience-specific question, please visit the tour page and click the “Ask a question about this tour” link. Inquiries sent via this form will be forwarded to the local expert, who will then answer your question directly.
We suggest using this form if you wish to inquire about booking a travel experience, if you would like to know whether the tour operator can accommodate any special requests, if you would like to book for a larger group than the maximum number of participants listed on the site, if you would like to request for a customized travel experience or if you would like clarification on any information in the activity description.
Reviews are feedback left by travelers who have attended a tour in the past. After your travel experience is complete, you will receive an email requesting that you leave a personal review of the local expert. Leaving a review is optional, however feedback from travelers who have actually gone on the travel experience is very helpful in assisting potential travelers to make an informed decision when looking for things to do themselves.
To see the reviews, please visit the experience page. Here, you can either click the “Read reviews” link next to the star rating above the main photo, or you can click the “Traveler Reviews” tab below the photos, duration, language, and location information. Do note that some tours and activities may not have any reviews yet, either if the tour and activity is quite new on the site and it has not yet been booked, or if customers of that activity have chosen not to leave a review.
If you have not received a confirmation by the day the travel experience starts, please let us know so that we can either get in touch with the local expert or cancel the booking and issue a refund.
If you arrive for your travel experience start point and you are unable to locate the local expert, we first recommend calling the local expert directly via the phone number provided on your ticket voucher. If you are still unable to reach the local expert, please call GuideTrip so that we can assist you further.
All the images on our website are provided by our local tour guides themselves and we do not vet images on their behalf or on behalf of any other party. To the best of our knowledge, all images as provided by guides are owned by the guides themselves. If you want to download or use a certain image for any purpose, please make sure that you take permission from the concerned local tour guide guide first.
