USA Minnesota - The Land
The Land
North Star State, Land of 10,000 Lakes, Gopher State, Minnesota was named from the Dakota word mnishota, which means "cloudy" or "milky water".
Minnesota is location in north-Central USA (west of Lake Superior) and is bordered by Iowa (south), South Dakota & North Dakota (west), and Manitoba & Ontario (north).
At 84,397 square miles, Minnesota is the the 12th largest state. The highest elevation is Eagle Mt. in Cook County at 2,301 feet while the lowest elevation is Lake Superior at 600 feet.
Minnesota's climate is classified as humid continental because normally there is a sufficient amount of precipitation to provide at least some surplus for runoff, and because Minnesota's temperature conditions are largely controlled by its location in the interior of the large landmass of North America. The result is extreme seasonal temperature variations.
The highest temperature on record was 114° while the lowest was -60°
