Missouri is located in Southern Midwest and is bordered by Iowa on the north; Illinois, Kentucky & Tennessee on the east, Arkansas (south), and Nebraska, Kansas & Oklahoma on the south.
At 69,709 square miles, Missouri is the 19th largest state. The highest elevation is Taum Sauk Mt. in Iron County at 1,772 feet while the lowest elevation is St. Francis River in Dunklin County at 270 feet.
The climate throughout Missouri is humid. Summers are hot. Summer temperatures range between 76° and 90 or higher. Heat waves with temperatures above 38°C (100°F) are common.
