Barranquilla Carnival
It takes place during the four day before Lent, although the preparatory festivities last for over a month. This means that the carnival mood starts in the city right after the New Year celebrations.
The carnival begins with a battle of flowers and a spectacular parade of carnival floats, and continues with the Gran Parada, in which dancers of Afro-Indian descent dance along the city’s avenues. The party continues with a festival of orchestras and dances in both typical dress and masks and finishes with mourning the death and the burial of Joselito Carnaval, the symbolic figure of the event
